The Colin Michael Cronin Foundation EMT/Paramedic Scholarship
Our son Colin had a passion for the sciences. He graduated with a degree in chemistry and biology. His path was to be medicine. In between semesters of his Junior year at St. Michael College, Colin, his cousin and his friend took an EMT crash course and passed the exam to become first tier EMT’s. That summer Colin worked for coastal transportation on Cape Cod while also working at Chapins in Dennis, MA. During this time, Colin had met a gentleman named Dr. Boyle. Dr. Boyle is a renowned podiatrist who gave Colin a shot at a small internship where Colin would witness surgery and be in the operating room with Dr. Boyle. Colin was able through his relationship with Dr. Boyle to start to set a plan for his medical career. Unfortunately, this dream was cut short on November 26th 2018 when Colin passed away of cardiac arrest. This was a difficult and very tragic time for our family.
We have now felt compelled to start the Colin Michael Cronin foundation EMT / Paramedic scholarship. What we hope to achieve is support for our local first responders who choose to further their education as an EMT and or a Paramedic. This support will come in the form of a scholarship to pay “in full” the costs associated with EMT school and Paramedic school. The application process is as follows:
The applicant needs to fully complete the application process:
- Submit a resume of schooling and employment.
- Write a short essay on what your community means to you.
- Personal interview with the Colin Michael Cronin board members. If the applicant meets the requirements, then the scholarship will be issued upon completion of the course.
Please make all scholarship inquiries to Michael Cronin at 617-590-9324 or via email: mcronin@deccorp.com
Colin gave back immensely to his community through service work for disadvantaged, homeless, mentally challenged individuals and disabled Veterans. Colin’s spirit lives on through the good that the recipients of the scholarships will pay forward to society. And giving to less fortunate families and individuals. This proves that you do not have to be present to make a difference in the world!
We look forward to awarding scholarships in the near future. Thank you
Michael, Julie, Riley, Abbie and Colin forever 23!
Fireman’s Prayer
“When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage; Give me the strength to save some life, whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child before it’s too late or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling to give the best in me, to guard my every neighbor and protect their property. And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life; Please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.”
